About IPAN


The Pan-American Institute of Criminal Policy (Instituto Panamericano de Política Criminal) was founded in 2004, as a non-profitable legal entity. It is a social organization that aims to contribute for an integrated view of all Criminal Sciences, based on the Rule of Law constitutional values, stimulating a reasonable and critical speech about the criminal phenomena.

Among the activities develop by IPAN are: (i) courses and seminars, also organized in partnership with other entities, either public or private; (ii) refresher courses whose target are professors, students, lawyers, judges, district attorneys, politicians, state employees, etc; (iii) researches and publicizing of ideas and practices capable of contributing to the institutional and managerial development of the Public Administration and NGOs, mainly focused on the criminal justice; and (iv) publishing scientific pieces that promote the investigation and the discussion of themes concerned to IPANs aims, being the review Ultima Ratio our main publication.
